How to find your Steam trade link

Sites that send you items need your trade link. Here is where to find it and how to keep it safe.

Updated 3 November 2026

What a trade link is

Your trade link lets someone send you a trade offer without being on your friends list. It does not give anyone access to your account or your items: every offer still needs your approval in Steam.

On a computer

  1. Open Steam and go to your Inventory.
  2. Click Trade Offers, then Who can send me Trade Offers?
  3. Find the Third-Party Sites section.
  4. Copy the trade link shown there.

In the Steam app

In the Steam app, open your Inventory, go to Trade Offers and choose Who can send me Trade Offers? Your trade link is under Third-Party Sites, ready to copy.

Make your inventory visible

Sites can only show your items if your inventory is public. In the privacy settings of your Steam profile, set Inventory to Public.

Keep it safe

  • Only paste your trade link on sites you trust
  • Create a new link if you shared it somewhere you regret; the old one stops working
  • Always check the items in an offer before you accept it
FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is it safe to share my trade link?

Yes, with sites you trust. A trade link only lets someone send you an offer; nothing moves without your approval in Steam.

Why does my trade link not work?

You may have created a new one. Copy the current link from Steam again and paste it in.

Do I need the Steam Mobile Authenticator?

It is strongly recommended. Without it, Steam can hold your trades for several days.
