Webhooks in plain words

A webhook is a message we send to your server when something changes. Here is how they work and what to do when one fails.

A webhook is a short message SkinsFlow sends to an address on your server whenever something changes: a deposit is paid, put on hold or fails, or a skin purchase is delivered. Your site uses it to update the order without anyone pressing refresh.

Set it up

  1. Open your project under Projects & API keys.
  2. Enter your webhook address and save.
  3. Click Send test webhook to check that your server answers.

Signed, so you can trust it

Every webhook carries a signature made with your project's webhook secret. Your server checks it to be sure the message really came from us. You can issue a new webhook secret at any time.

When your server does not answer

We try again, with longer gaps each time, for about two days. The Webhooks page in your dashboard lists every message we sent, whether it arrived, and what your server answered. You can send any message again from there.

Good practice

  • Answer quickly, then do the slow work afterwards.
  • Treat the same message arriving twice as normal.
  • Always check the signature.

The exact format of each message is in our developer documentation.
